Counselors in the courtroom
My most recent Counseling Today article is about counselors serving as expert witnesses in courtroom proceedings. It was interesting to research this topic, as the concept of testifying either seems to terrify or electrify counselors at equal measures. Some of the people I spoke with reported frightening first encounters with the legal system, where their efforts to help their clients turned into embarrassing moments on the witness stand. Others enjoyed the process so much that they went to great lengths to become certified courtroom experts. Read about it here.
