Cheat to SAVE Your Marriage?

I just came across a book titled, “Cheat 2 Save Your Marriage: True Stories of Spouses Cheating To Save Their Marriage.” As a couples counselor, it’s kind of hard not to comment. The basic premise of the book by Michael D. Moore, is that if he hadn’t held a nine-month affair with another woman, he and his wife would have never gone to couples counseling.

I get it – sometimes it takes a full-on crisis for us to wake up and take action. There’s usually a major event that gets a couple into treatment in the first place – a public argument, a lie revealed even a trial separation. But I don’t buy the idea of passing off the act of cheating as an attempt to make things better. Save your marriage before you cheat, it’s kinder, faster, cheaper, and less damaging in the long run.
